I've been working on the Man Up Campaign for nine years we have been focused on Preventing gender-based violence Internationally (the primary survivors of violence are mostly women but of are of all genders).
We work to engage youth leader both young men and women in creating projects to create equality, inclusion, and opportunity the foundation of preventing the violence. This benefits all of the participants and the communities we engage. We engage youth through things youth care about we call these areas of learning activities G-SMART (Gender-Sports-Music Art, Reflection and Technology) engagement framework.
The Challenge In the United States
On the average 3 women killed every day. Of all the women murdered in the U.S., about one-third were killed by an intimate partner.
Domestic Violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner.3 According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year.4Less than 20 percent of battered women sought medical treatment following an injury.
The Justice Department estimates that one in five women will experience rape or attempted rape during their college years and that less than five percent of these rapes will be reported
In 2019 we are launching programs in schools in the United States
In this work, we affect100,000s of youth worldwide which we have done on a voluntary basis. To launch programs in the schools in the US we need to professionalize this effort. I cannot do it all from my personal funds. I am asking you to help me raise $8,000 before the year's end. It will me raise funds from the foundations to carry out these programs at scale and in time allow all to live happier life free from violence.
