Anika Subha Ahmad Upoma

With a Master of Education degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a background in Applied Linguistics and English Literature, I am passionate about advancing higher education and fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment ensuring preventive measures against Gender based Violence. I oversee the trauma informed practices in higher education institutions, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and best practices. I also collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the quality and effectiveness of academic programs and services.

In addition to my role at UAlbany, I have also previously worked as the Acting Head of English Department at Canadian University of Bangladesh, where I led the curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and student engagement initiatives. I have extensive experience in working with international organizations and NGOs, such as UN Women, Global Goodwill Ambassadors, and ManUp, to advocate for gender equality, social justice, and human rights. I have received multiple awards and recognitions for my leadership, innovation, and impact, such as the Brave Woman from Bangladesh and the Best Delegate Award. I have also published and presented my research on various topics, such as women’s empowerment, language policy, and intercultural communication.
